OUR STORY

After working and teaching around the world, the Alliance for International Medicine (AIM) came together based upon the shared observations and experiences of Drs. Richards and Rhondeau. They learned firsthand that providing medical care to underserved communities was most effective when they provided sustainable training and equipment while working alongside their global peers.

Their approach has evolved over time and includes extensive online training programs, provision of surgical, ultrasound, and anesthesia equipment, live training with teams of nationally and internationally recognized experts and, most recently, the creation of virtual reality simulator centers around the globe.

AIM’s goals align with the World Health Organization’s initiative to provide surgical and anesthesia services to these populations. Strong alliances have been developed with local healthcare leaders by providing comprehensive training, state-of-the-art equipment, and continued support, allowing the local medical communities to provide a higher standard of care.

AIM also improves care in these communities by bringing highly trained specialists—nationally and internationally recognized leaders who not only donate their expertise to the local population but work side by side with their international peers—to help advance medical knowledge while preserving local culture.
